Review of Subway nyc

The day after our experience in an escape room in Charlottesville, we wanted to try out this new room at Staunton's Crack the Code that had opened early this year. This escape room takes you onto a moving subway car decked out with walls full of graffiti. Unfortunately, your car and all it's passengers have been hijacked by someone and is now heading towards a collision with another train. Your goal is to reroute the train before it crashes.

We had a good time in this escape room, but it needs some improvements to be stellar. For example, unintentional guessing of a lock made a puzzle become opened before it was time to be opened. This was remedied by the game master stepping into the room to fix it, interrupting our game and asking how we opened it. There were lots of things graffitied on the walls that felt like they should have led to clues, but did not.  Our final puzzle was also disappointing when the intended special effects didn't go off to let us know we successfully completed the room. While this is no fault of theirs (their software stopped working right before we solved the final puzzle), it would have been nice to have a more enthusiastic ending to the game or an apology, but we received neither. On the flip side, some puzzles in the room were ones we had never seen before. These were executed very well and had us talking about them even after we left.

Overall, this room is a work in progress, however we are willing to go back and give another room a shot in the future especially since this is a newer room compared to the others.

As of Feb. 10, we are still number one on the leaderboard.
