Review of The Gift
After a two month break, we're back! Spring break was the perfect time to take a day trip to Short Pump and do an escape room!
The plot: "LOCKED AWAY IN AN ANTIQUE SHOP LIES A SWORD RUMORED TO HAVE VALUE BEYOND MEASURE. A MAN CLAIMING TO BE THE ORIGINAL OWNER HAS HIRED YOU TO STEAL IT FOR HIM. YOUR JOB IS TO BREAK IN, RETRIEVE THE SWORD, AND DISAPPEAR WITHOUT A TRACE. WILL YOU MAKE IT OUT BEFORE YOU GET CAUGHT?"
This was our first time doing a room at Red Door Escape! I think it's safe to say we'll be back for more. We had such a great time and Quinton, our game master, was wonderful! While we were in the briefing room getting ready to watch the starting video, Quinton told us that all of the rooms at Red Door are connected, but you don't have to play them in any particular order to follow a sequential storyline.
This room was challenging enough that we needed a few hints along the way, but also super fun to explore. We gave it the 8/10 difficulty rating because we can see how it could be super challenging for teams who haven't done a lot of rooms. For the Wintle Wonders, we'd say it was more of a 6 or 7 out of 10 since we have played quite a few games together and are used to working together as a team to problem solve. In this room, you'll start outside the antique shop and you'll need to break in before using the back window to escape to the ally behind. We loved that it was multi room and really enjoyed escaping through the back window!
Overall, we had a great experience and we're excited to go back and try more of Red Door's games!
